Seminar 9: Influence Without Authority

As organizations continue to modify their structures and break down hierarchies, managers often find themselves responsible for people who are not under their direct authority. This workplace dynamic creates a challenge for managers: how to work successfully with and through others over whom they have neither authority nor direct control in order to fulfill their objectives.

This workshop combines theory with practical application for leading others. Participants will develop and cultivate their powers of influence, persuasion and negotiation for win-win results.

Participants will learn to:

  • Distinguish between authority and influence
  • Gain insights into critical components for selling ideas and positioning
  • Understand conflict resolution preferences
  • Create stronger visibility in meetings
  • Capitalize on personal power when leading cross functional groups

Suggested Time Frame: One- or two-day program
